ACTIVITIES
Newton
Stewart and the surrounding area offers some of the most beautiful and,
as yet, undiscovered countryside in Scotland.
Creebridge Caravan
Park is set in the valley between the mountains of Cairnsmore (pictured
opposite) to the East and Merrick to the North. Hillwalking is very
popular with locals and visitors alike as are the cycle routes, forest
walks and forest drives. Access to both mountains and the surrounding
forest countryside is only a few minutes drive from the Holiday Park.
Fishing
and shooting can be arranged through local establishments. The River
Cree runs right through Newton Stewart and is a popular salmon fishing
river as is the nearby River Bladnoch. There are also a large amount
of lochs throughout the region and the option of some sea fishing.
Golf Discounts
Discounts on the green fees at Newton Stewart Golf Club (within walking distance) are available to holiday makers at Creebridge Caravan Park.
Cycling
Newton Stewart offers cyclists of all ages and abilities the opportunity to explore some of the region's richest and most diverse landscape all within a relatively short distance of the town centre. There are opportunities for both off-road and road biking and detailed suggestions are offered in leaflets such as "Cycling in Newton Stewart" and "Cycling in Dumfries and Galloway" available from the Tourist Information Centre. Cycles can be hired in the town and there are sources of accessories and repairs for cyclists.

Perhaps a day trip
to Ireland? The ferry port of Stranraer is only 30 minutes drive with
regular crossings to Belfast and Larne.
Slightly closer
to home are the local towns and villages, each with a story to tell.
Only 6 miles away is Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town which is
host to over 18 book shops and businesses and regularly holds book festivals
and events. Further information can be found at the Wigtown Book Town
web site: www.wigtown-booktown.co.uk
Just 1 mile down
the road from Wigtown you will find Bladnoch which is home to Scotland's
most southerly whisky distillery. Guided tours, visitors centre and
gift shop are busy throughout the year and whilst you're there, why
not sample a dram of their world famous single malt whisky. Visit the
official Bladnoch Distillery web site at: www.bladnoch.co.uk
Further south from
Bladnoch is the Whithorn Archaeological Dig and the fishing village
of the Isle of Whithorn.
Golfers staying
at the Holiday Park are welcome to play at the beautiful new 18-hole
course of Newton Stewart Golf Club. GOLF DISCOUNTS - Discounts on the
